DAY TWO of the Create a Critter Blog Hop (PANDA)

For today's project, I turned to the panda image on the CAC cart.  Doesn't this panda look so huggable?  I used patterned papers from Bo Bunny's Serenity 6 x 6 paper pad.  The sentiment was computer-generated using an Asian font called Seven Monkey Fury.  What a fun name for a font, huh?  LOL

Create A Critter Blog Hop (Day One): Frog

My 20-month-old daughter loves frogs.  I think it's because of an episode of "Sesame Street".  Whenever she sees a frog, whether it's on TV or on a shirt, or sticker, etc .... she says, "Bah-BET!" which is her version of "RIBBIT".  LOL!!!  So, of course, I just had to use the frog image for my first project.


I made a shaped card using Cricut Design Studio.  I used the shadow feature and lined up two of them on the mat.  Then, I flipped one of them 180 degrees and welded the two images together.  If you want a visual of this, you can do a search on YouTube.  It's actually pretty easy!

I then cut the frog layers as I normally would.  I used some fun, green polka-dotted paper.  I also made this a girl frog by adding a pink bow to her head.  My little one loved her frog card!  Of course, she promptly colored her frog card as soon as I gave it to her.  LOL

Cool Dude (Lollipop Crafts Challenge)


Hello, bloggers!  This week's challenge over at Lollipop Crafts is "For Him".  I used a digi from The Paper Shelter called Cockatoo Rules.  I fell in love with this guy the moment I saw him!  I think he's just hilarious with his spiked feathers on top, his shades, and his leather jacket.  My boyfriend -- like many men -- wants to one day buy a bike.  So, I immediately though of him when I saw this digi.

What I also love about this digi is that it comes in a colored version!  I love my Copics, but sometimes, I'm just really not in the mood to color.  I loved that I was able to size this digi, print it,and not have to fuss with coloring.

For my pp, I turned to my stash and used one of my all-time favorite Basic Grey lines:  Lime Rickey.  I bought every single piece in the collection.  Okay, I've done that with a lot of Basic Grey collections, but with Lime Rickey, I even bought multiples of many of the pieces.  The one sheet from the collection with the birds on it was perfect for this card.  I matted a strip of the colorful, rainbow paper and used it at the bottom.  In my mind, it's the road that the bird is riding on.  LOL  The sentiment was computer-generated.

Abusive Relationship Awareness Blog Hop

Welcome to the Abusive Relationship Awareness Blog Hop. You should have arrived here from Pam's blog. If you are just joining us and want to start from the beginning, please start at Ashley's blog.  


While this may not be your typical blog hop theme. We decided to put together this hop in order to shed light on a topic that often goes unspoken about, when the truth is many of us have either been in an abusive relationship or know of someone who has. We're here not to celebrate abusive relationships, but to bring hope to those who have been firsthand or secondhand victims and to provide awareness to help put an end to this growing problem. 


All of our projects showcased in this hop have something to do with hope, love, and encouragement. The color for domestic violence is purple, and as you'll see purple was used on many of our projects.


No one should ever have to find themselves in an abusive relationship.  When you care about someone, you treat them with love, kindness, and respect.  For my project, I turned to one of my favorite Bible scriptures :  1 Corinthians 13:4.  


Love is patient.  
Love is kind.
It does not envy.
It does not boast. 
It is not proud.
Love is not rule.
It is not selfish.
It can not be easily angered.
Love remembers no wrongs, never gives up,
never stops trusting, never loses hope, never quits.
Love never fails.

Can you just imagine how different the world would be if everyone abided by these rules?  I knew I wanted to include these words on my project.  I created a card with using purple cardstock as the base with some pretty floral patterned paper with purple in it.  



I sometimes like to turn to printables for my projects because they sure help to make the job easier!  There are so many sources of wonderful free printables out there, too.  For this project, I used a subway art printable from The Girl Creative.  I am loving subway art right now because I'm kind of a font freak, and I love how subway art incorporates so many different types.  I printed this out on white cardstock and then matted with the same purple cardstock that I used for the base.  I added some flowers and then some bling to the flower centers.

One of the things on my bucket list is to learn how to sew.  My grandmother was a pretty good seamstress.  In fact, she sewed my Mom's wedding gown as well as the wedding gowns of a few of my Mom's cousins and friends.  My Mom was my grandma's assistant and would help her with some of the easier sewing tasks.  Sewing is one of those things that always makes me think of my grandma.  So, I thought a sewing machine image would be great for a Mother's Day card.

What I love about this image is that it doesn't require a lot of coloring.  LOL  I paired it with some green cardstock that I embossed with a Cuttlebug folder and then added some pink ribbon.  Simple but pretty!

Now on to my project: 




I created a 3-D watering can using the Welcome Spring set from svgattic.com.  I used paper from a garden-themed set by K  & Co. that I've had in my stash for a while.  This project was easy to put together and fun to dress up!  I added some sheer ribbon to the handle and embossed the daisies to add some texture to them.  I placed two mini Bath & Body Works body soaps in a cellophane bag and tied with more sheer ribbon.  I embellished with a cardstock butterfly.  I think this turned out so pretty, and it's a different way to present a gift to that special mother or mother figure in your life!  Thanks so much for stopping by.  I'll have a different project posted tomorrow, so hope to see you again!

Lollipop Crafts Sponsor Spotlight: Meljen's


Happy Hump Day, Friends!  Hope you are all well.  I've been battling a bad cold for about a week now, and it really wiped me out for a few days!  I'm feeling better but still have this nagging cough.  At least I am well enough to do some spring cleaning.  I have so many spring cleaning projects but so little time.  It's tough when you're chasing a toddler all day! 

Well, on to my project.  Our sponsor this week over at Lollipop Crafts is Meljen's Designs.  I chose to work with this really sweet candy digi.  I wanted to make a bright, fun card with it, so I paired it with this bright, polka dot paper that I originally got for Easter.  I inked the digi with Copics and added some sparkle with Stickles (although it is hard to see in the picture).  I originally planned to do a birthday card but changed my mind.  The great thing about this digi is that it's versatile.  It can be used with a variety of card themes.  I love digi's like that !
